Prior to Saturday’s game the Washington Nationals selected infielder Mark Reynolds contract from Triple-A Syracuse and placed their star first baseman Ryan Zimmerman on the 10-day disabled list due to a right oblique strain. Zimmerman’s move was retroactive to May 10. In addition, the team transferred RHP Joaquin Benoit to the 60-day disabled list.

Reynolds is not a rookie to the majors, has some extensive major league experience at first base and third base. Has 281 careerĀ  home runs, ranked 11th among active players entering 2018 season.*
