Becky Hammon has taken a major step in becoming the first woman to be a head coach in the NBA. The San Antonio Spurs have promoted Hammon to a front seat assistant coach.

Hammon will take the vacated seat once owned by James Borrego who left to be the head coach of the Charlotte Hornets.

She will now be seated next to Ettore Messina and Ime Udoke, the Spurs other front row assistants.

Hammon’s who coached the Spurs summer league team twice, lead the Spurs to the summer league championship in 2015.
